Seco Tools reveals new Double Quattromill 22 for powerful face milling
ERKRATH, Germany, 2018 – With eight cutting edges, the new Double Quattromill 22 achieves the highest possible productivity and cost efficiency for face milling applications. This tool reaches a high metal removal rate for roughing operations and excellent surface qualities for finishing applications. The inserts of the Double Quattromill 22 allow large depths-of-cut and longer tool lives at a lower power consumption.
Smooth cutting with double-sided inserts
Double Quattromill 22 enables shops to use the full milling power of their machines. The milling system reaches a high metal removal rate because of its smooth cutting geometries and the positive helix angle of the double-sided inserts. This ensures maximal workpiece stability and ideal machining conditions with reduced cutting forces and power consumption.
Highest efficiency at enormous cutting depths
Double Quattromill 22 comes in two versions for different manufacturing needs, including up to 9 mm cutting depth with the 45° lead angle cutter and up to 11 mm with the 68° lead angle cutter. The 45° version creates an ideal balance of lower cutting forces, minimal power consumption and higher feeds with excellent chip removal. The 68° version is designed for milling close to walls and fixturing.
For further versatility, the cutter body is available with fixed and adjustable pocket seats. For applications with larger diameters, bodies are available with adjustable pocket seats from 200 to 315 mm. Thanks to eight cutting edges per insert, Double Quattromill 22 provides cost-efficient operation for cutting diameters up to 315 mm, ensuring secure chip removal and efficient cooling because of its internal coolant supply.
Large number of grades
Double Quattromill 22 inserts are available in three geometries and many different grades. A sharp geometry without chamfers accommodates efficient cutting of stainless steel, titanium and adhesive materials. A universal geometry allows for the highest productivity in steel, cast iron and super alloys like Inconel. The third geometry includes a strong protection chamfer and is ideal for challenging operations under harsh conditions.
All inserts incorporate a patented chip groove that leads to excellent smoothness and better chip formation. The new surface structure of the chip flutes supports excellent chip removal and extends the life of the cutter body.
